Depending on the time of year, there are a dozen different reasons why you might need to pick up a bouquet of roses from a local flower shop. Whether it's a life event, or a holiday of some kind, flowers come in handy for a wide variety of reasons:

  • Valentine's Day
  • Mother's Day
  • Graduations
  • Birthdays
  • Weddings
  • Engagements
  • Parties
  • Funerals
  • Hospital Visits
  • Company Celebrations

And a hundred other reasons! Flowers are a great way to express love, kindness, empathy, or to simply give someone a beautiful gift - including yourself!

Local flower shops in Waco especially come in handy for graduation flowers. In fact, many local florists specifically offer “Baylor flowers” as bouquets with the school colors included in the arrangement.

Just keep in mind that there can be a significant difference in the quality of flowers, based on where you get them from!

Local Florists vs Big Box Retail Flowers

Generally speaking, it's better to get flowers from a local florist in Waco because they typically source their flowers from farms that are nearby.

Oftentimes you can get many different types of flowers from a local florist right before they bloom. That means that you get to enjoy the flowers at home a lot longer, because the flowers are freshly picked from the field!

And perfect flowers make the perfect gift!

We recently purchased lily flowers from a local florist, and the flower buds had not yet opened. A day or two after we placed them in the vase, we woke up to beautiful flowers that had bloomed overnight. They lasted for a few weeks and were really lovely to look at the entire time.

Whereas the flowers you might find at the bigger box stores have likely traveled hundreds, if not thousands of miles. Many of their floral products have often gone through some type of preservation process, and some are even color dyed.

That often results in a shorter lifespan once you put them in a vase on your table at home.

LOCALLY OWNED FLOWER SHOPS IN WACO

That being said, here are the best flower shops in Waco, Texas. And because I want to make sure you get the best product possible, the places on the list below are strictly locally owned and operated floral shops.

THE FOUNDRY

The Foundry Market & Floral shop is located right on Highway 6 in Valley Mills, TX - the same small suburb of Waco where Joanna Gaines films her cooking show, "Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines".

This flower shop is unique in that the owner(s) of the shop grow a lot of their own flowers, and sell them in the shop. They also source their flowers from a lot of local flower farms, so they consistently sell some of the freshest floral products you can find in the Waco area.

They can also do custom bouquets, gift baskets, special orders and much more. In fact, one of their most popular services throughout the year are “school flowers” where you can send your child a floral arrangement for a special occasion such as a birthday, Valentine's Day, etc.

ORCHARD HOLLOW

Orchard Hollow is a local, family owned and operated herb and flower farm located in Moody, TX which is about 25 minutes outside of Waco.

They do not have a physical location or store that you can visit whenever you want, because the farm is where they also live. However, they do frequently offer pick up days, community workshops, and other special events on-site at their herb and flower farm.

If you want to buy some beautiful, fresh, locally grown flowers from Orchard Hollow, simply follow them on social media. They frequently have pop-up shops, attend festivals, events and farmers markets throughout Waco.

They're also in the process of restoring a really cool 1952 Chevy Pickup that was used largely as a farm workhorse in its prime. I'm assuming that the newly restored pickup will be used at shows and pop-up events as part of their flower business when it's finished. That will be pretty cool!

JANE'S CUSTOM FLOWER ART

Jane's Custom Flower Art does not have a physical storefront, but you can order them by calling or messaging them through their business page online.
