BAKERIES IN WACO
The list of Waco bakeries in this section have a physical location in Waco, TX where you can go find baked cakes, cookies, breads, and other delicious baked items.
There are additional sections below this one for bakeries located in Bellmead, Woodway, Hewitt, McGregor and Robinson - suburbs of Waco that are located nearby.
Momma Mo Cookies
First up, a traditional cookie bakery. As their name would suggest, they specialize heavily in all things cookies including:
- Specialty Cookies
- Sugar Cookies
- Brownie Cookies
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Take Home Cookie Dough
If it has to do with cookies, then, hands-down, Mo Cookies does it best. While their name is officially "Mo Cookies", many locals refer to it as "Momma Mo's".
Tasty Creations
Tasty Creations is a locally owned and operated bakery in Waco on Valley Mills Drive. Like many of the local bakeries in Waco, they started out as a Cottage Bakery, but as their business grew, ultimately they were able to open a physical location.
Tasty Creations makes a whole host of delicious baked goods, but these are the things they specialize in:
- Cakes (including special ones for weddings, graduations, birthdays, etc)
- Some of their cakes are 3+ tiers!
- Cupcakes
- Donuts
- Cheesecake
If you need a specialty cake for a special event, then Tasty Creations is one of the go-to bakeries in Waco for such things.
Pivovar Bakery
Like nearly every Waco bakery on this list, Pivovar Bakery is an incredibly unique bakery in Waco. Pivovar Bakery is a Czech-influenced bakery that makes all kinds of Czech inspired baked goods such as:
- Cheesecake
- Strudel Pie
- Sweet Bread
- Kolaches
The bakery is located on the lower level of the Pivovar Mid-Rise building right near Magnolia Market. It's just one of several Czech businesses located in the building including a:
- Hotel
- Brewery
- Bar
- Biergarten
- Events Venue
Pivovar Bakery offers a taste of European baked goods and desserts that you won't find anywhere else in Waco. Just keep in mind that even though the Pivovar Restaurant is open late into the evening (it's best to make a reservation), the bakery is only open until the early afternoon hours.
O My Cakes & More
O My Cakes & More started out as a Cottage Bakery, but recently opened a storefront location at the Richland Mall in Waco.
Much like their name suggests, O My Cakes & More largely specializes in baking cakes. But not just cake. They make all KINDS of cakes and they get incredibly creative with the formats in which they serve their cakes.
- Jar Cakes
- Tiered Cakes
- Designer Cakes
- Cupcakes
Whatever kind of cake you can imagine - they probably make it. And if they don't, they probably will if you ask.
They make other stuff too, but the cakes...
Baked Bliss
Oh, Baked Bliss... truly, they are blissful. I have been to Baked Bliss many times, and I'm not entirely sure that I can say that they "specialize" in any one thing. But they do everything well.
- Cookies
- Cupcakes
- Biscuits
- Scones
- Pies
- Cinnamon Buns
- Muffins
- Kolaches
No matter what I've purchased at Baked Bliss, it's always been intoxicatingly delicious. One of the highlights about Baked Bliss is that they make a lot of Gluten Free desserts which is sometimes difficult to find in a small city like Waco.
If you're looking for gluten free desserts in Waco, go check out Baked Bliss.
Cake Amor Bakery
If you have ever wanted to eat an entire bouquet of flowers, well, then Cake Amor Bakery has you covered. No, seriously... they make entire flower bouquets out of cupcakes.
Cake Amor Bakery specializes in:
- Sugar Cookies
- Cupcakes
- Cakes
If you want incredibly beautiful designer cakes, cupcakes or cookies, then do not hesitate to contact Cake Amor.
Just be aware that if you're placing a special order for something they don't carry on a daily basis in their store, it needs to be ordered a couple months in advance. Nearly every time I check their site, their special orders are completely sold out for 60 days in advance.
Silos Baking Co
If you know who Joanna Gaines is, then you probably already know that she also owns a bakery as part of the "Magnolia" business empire. Silos Baking Co is located at Magnolia Market in downtown Waco, and it's not uncommon to see a line out the door, wrapping around the corner and down the street.
Why?
Well, because it's Joanna Gaines bakery. But, it's also because they truly do make some delicious:
- Cookies
- Cupcakes
- Muffins
- Cinnamon Rolls
- Croissants
If you want a taste of fame and fabulously sugary glory, then make sure you put the Silos Baking Co on your list. Just bring a hat, water and some sunscreen if you're planning on going during the hot Texas Summer months.
Homestead Bakery
Homestead Bakery is another bakery in Waco that you won't find the likes of it anywhere else. It's a bakery owned and operated by an unique, self-reliant community of people who live largely off-the-grid in Waco.
They operate their own farms, build their own buildings, make their own cheese, butter and more. And while they are a tightly-knit community, they serve the greater community of Waco in various ways, including offering classes to teach other people who are interested in learning homesteading skills that have largely been lost to the general populace over the years.
- Croissants
- Butter Biscotti
- Scones
- Macarons
- Organic Bread
- Gluten Free
These are just a few things that the Homestead Bakery in Waco offers. While you're there, there are gift shops, wood-working shops, a restaurant, and much more.
There is also a historic, 19th century barn that has been restored and converted into a coffee shop. They make a lot of their own syrups, and roast their own beans, creating an incredibly unique experience and taste that you won't find anywhere else. It's such a great experience, that I've listed it as one of the best coffee shops in Waco.
You can even take a 45-minute horse-drawn wagon tour of this massive, traditional farm that also includes a scenic overlook of the valley during the tour.
Jiminez Bakery
Jiminez Bakery is an authentic Mexican bakery located in Waco, TX. It's one of the only places you'll find in Waco that makes incredibly delicious:
- Sweet Potato Empanadas
- Tres Leches
- Bolillo Bread
- Conchas / Pan Dulce
And there's a lot more! If it's a traditional Mexican bakery item, then chances are, Jiminez Bakery makes it! They have nearly floor-to-ceiling display cases of baked goods available every day.
Just keep in mind that this place is cash-only, so come prepared. But, because they only accept cash and don't have to pay processing fees for cards, their prices are more than fair!
You can walk out with an arm full of baked goods without breaking the bank.
Sironia Waco
Sironia Waco is kind of the odd-ball in this whole mix, but, it's important to make sure they're included.
Sironia Waco is actually a boutique store. Oddly enough, it's a boutique store with a restaurant, and an AirBnB-style vacation rental, too.
The reason it's on this list is because their restaurant serves up a highly-rated Strawberry Cake and Banana Cake. It's not just recommended by one or two people. Every time I post polls about the best local dessert places, TONS of Waco locals mention Sironia's cakes.
So, you've been clued in on a little local secret. Check out Sironia in Waco if you're looking for some delicious strawberry or banana cake.
BAKERIES IN BELLMEAD
Bellmead is a suburb that sits on the Northern edge of Waco. There's one bakery here in particular that you may have heard of in a documentary.
Collin Street Bakery
Collin Street Bakery is a famous bakery that has been in existence since 1896. Though, it was nearly forced into bankruptcy as a result of a scandal that rocked Texas, and the world.
It especially rocked the bakery industry as a whole.
Prior to the embezzlement scandal that rocked their world, they were (and still are) famous for their Fruitcake. So, if you want to check out some world-famous fruitcake, you can stop by their Waco location.
You can also watch the "Fruitcake Fraud" documentary on Discovery+ if you want to learn all about the massive embezzlement fraud that nearly caused this 120+ year old bakery to shut down.
BAKERIES IN WOODWAY
Woodway is another suburb of Waco that's included in the Greater Metropolitan area of Waco. Woodway also happens to be home to another highly unique, locally owned and operated bakery that serves up some delicious donuts you won't find anywhere else.
Nighlight Donuts
Nightlight Donuts started out with a food truck at the Waco Farmer's Market. I tried to get donuts there multiple times, but no matter what time I showed up, they were always sold out by the time I got there.
As you can imagine, I was happy to learn that they were opening a brick-n-mortar location in Waco. Since they opened up, I've been there many, many times.
True to their name, Nightlight Donuts serves up absolutely scrumptious, Parisian inspired donuts that are flaky, airy, layered donuts that simultaneously crunch and melt in your mouth.
It's also one of the few bakeries in town that doubles as a legitimate coffee house, so you can get a double dose of goodness with your choice of any number of specialty coffee drinks paired with a divine donut inspired by the delectable creations from the streets of Paris.
As a side-note: Nightlight Donuts also now serves sausage kolaches in a collaboration with Helberg BBQ - one of the best BBQ restaurants in Waco, and recently listed as one of the Top 50 BBQ joints in the entire state of Texas.
BAKERIES IN HEWITT
Hewitt sits between Robinson and Woodway on the southern edge of Waco, just off of I-35. If you're a fan of cheesecakes, you are going to want to add this as a stop.
Nico's of Texas
I was first introduced to Nico's of Texas when their food truck showed up at a local food truck event on Highway 6, in Valley Mills, TX - the same town where Joanna Gaines films her baking show, "Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines".
Nico's of Texas specializes in one thing: Cheesecake.
And they do it REALLY, REALLY WELL. It's probably been a month or more since I have had their cheesecakes, and I can still taste it as I write this section.
Nico's makes all kinds of cheesecakes such as:
- White Chocolate Macadamia Nut
- Amaretto
- Caramel Latte
- Limoncello
- Turtle Cheesecake
- Lemon Blueberry
- Texas Pecan
- Pumpkin
- Key Lime
- Peanut Butter Cup
... and the list goes on.
I should pay them a visit. And so should you!
BAKERIES IN MCGREGOR
McGregor is probably the furthest location from Waco, however, it's worth the drive if you're looking for something unique, and truly special as a dessert.
Cuppiecakes
Cuppiecakes is one of the most highly and frequently recommended dessert spots in the entire Waco area. People will drive to McGregor just to get something from Cuppiecakes.
That speaks volumes about Cuppiecakes.
While they do make other baked goods, this Waco bakery is true to their name.
They specialize in cupcakes.
- The Big Hoss
- The Big Nasty
- Midnight Stroll
- Pink Lady
- Sunday Mornin'
- Summer in the South
- Plain Jane
These are just a few of their signature cupcakes that are routinely available at the Cuppiecakes bakery.
To top it off, they also offer Keto diet desserts and baked goods, as well as a whole host of other bakery desserts such as:
- Cake Pops
- Cookies
- Turtles
- Buckeyes
- Nutter Butters
- Spoon Cakes
- Ritz Dips
- Dipped Pretzels
Convinced yet?
BAKERIES IN ROBINSON
Last, but not least, Robinson is located on the Southeast edge of Waco, just down the road from the Magnolia Table Restaurant. Here, you'll find a couple of fantastic locally owned bakeries that are absolutely worth checking out.
Lollipops
Lollipops is a locally owned and operated bakery in Robinson, TX that features scrumptious:
- Cookies

- Cookie Cakes
- Cupcakes
- Brownie Cakes
Yes, they make a lot of cake things! And they're yummmmmy!
What About Cupcakes
What About Cupcakes is defined as a, "Cheery bakery making mini, regular & jumbo cupcakes in everyday & rotating specialty flavors".
They were a "Best of Waco" bakery in 2020, and will likely be winners of that title again in the near future. Their baked goods feature:
- CUPCAKES!
Yes, that's right. They focus on a single product - cupcakes! And they do it INCREDIBLY WELL! They always have new, unique flavors. What you get one day may not be available the next.
Some of their recent ones have been:
- Red Velvet
- Champagne
- Neopolitan
If you want to see what their bakers have dreamt up for the day, be sure to stop by and find out! I'm guessing you won't be disappointed.
