It's not entirely clear what prompted the release of The Hunger Games movies on Facebook, but if you're a fan of the series, then it's definitely a pleasant surprise.
There is no word on how long the movies will be available to watch online (maybe just for the holidays?), so hurry on over if you want to catch them before they're gone!
There does not appear to have been any promotions on this interesting release. However, it could perhaps be an early test by Facebook to gauge interest from the general public on watching movies on the Facebook platform, as well as the technology and how people interact with it.
Could Facebook be looking to move into the movie space and compete with the likes of Apple TV, Prime Video, Netflix, etc? Maybe!
But regardless, we'll enjoy The Hunger Games for FREE in the meantime!
2022 UPDATE: It appears that (since this article was published over a year ago) the free streaming option has been removed from both Facebook and Instagram. However, if you have Amazon Prime, you can still watch the The Hunger Games movie series for free on Prime Video.
